Beach Cottage | Addition Remodel

After a long debate over the merits of tearing down and starting over versus figuring out a way to add a kitchen and office, we opted to save the vintage beach cottage. The condition was that the new kitchen had to have at least a peek view of the water. The owner also had always wanted a gazebo. With no option to build at ground level on the waterside, we designed the gazebo into the kitchen on the uphill side and finessed a view through the kitchen to the water. The ‘gazebo’ kitchen gets great morning light and opens to the garden, giving the house a nice counterpoint and access to the new residential elevator up to the garage and street level.
